Raku: Fire, Transformation and Creative Freedom

Discover Raku, the ancient Japanese firing technique that celebrates imperfection, presence, and transformation. More than a ceramic method, it is a powerful creative experience inspired by Wabi-sabi and Zen philosophy.

In this course, you will create small and medium forms – vases, pendants, or small sculptures – and learn how crackle effects, metallic reflections, and unique surfaces are born through fire.

The course includes two appointments (dates to be arranged):
• Day 1 – Creation of your pieces and introduction to Raku philosophy
• Day 2 – Glazing and firing

You will learn two firing techniques:
• Traditional firing in a small electric kiln
• Hotpot / glass kiln and microwave firing

All techniques are safe and can be replicated at home.
